Secure In God’s Grace
As Peter concludes his letter, he gives a final call to embrace the path Christ walked—from suffering to glory. This sermon considers the three charges: be humble under God’s mighty hand, be on guard against the devil, and be assured of God’s grace.
Sheep Need Shepherds
How does Jesus care for his people as they journey through this world toward glory? In 1 Peter 5:1-5, Peter reminds us that the Chief Shepherd has not abandoned his flock. Christ provides shepherds to lead, feed, and protect his people, and calls his church to humble submission and mutual care.
Afflicted Saints
Most of us assume suffering is something to avoid. But what if some suffering is a mark of belonging to Christ? In 1 Peter 4:12-19, Peter helps believers understand the purpose of suffering, the privilege of bearing Christ's name, and the confidence that comes from trusting a faithful Creator.
Living In Light of the End
Many people today sense the world is heading toward an end—whether through climate crisis, war, or technology. In 1 Peter 4:7-11, Peter agrees the end is at hand, but for a very different reason: God is bringing history to its conclusion in Christ. So how should we live in light of that coming day?
Armed for Battle
What defines your life—your past, your culture, or your Saviour? In 1 Peter 4:1–6, Peter shows that Christ’s suffering for our sin reshapes our identity and allegiance. Christians no longer live for old desires but for God’s will, even when that change brings opposition, rejection, and social cost.
Hope Under Pressure
What do we do when faithfulness to Christ costs us? The temptation is to retaliate, withdraw, compromise, or fall silent — reactions driven by fear. But 1 Peter 3:8-22 calls us to something better. Because Christ has suffered and now reigns, his followers are to live, speak, and endure with confident hope.
Wives & Husbands
1 Peter 3:1-7 is where Peter speaks into the heart of Christian marriage. How does the gospel shape husbands and wives? We’ll see how Christ transforms our conduct, redefines true beauty, and calls us to live together in a way that displays grace to a watching world.
Suffering Servants
1 Peter 2:18-25 speaks into the reality of unjust suffering. How do we respond when treated unfairly? We’ll see how the gospel shapes our endurance—enabling us to rest in God’s approval, follow Christ’s example, and display the reality of Jesus to a watching world.
Religion & Politics
If a believer’s ultimate allegiance is to King Jesus, how should we live under earthly authorities that don’t share His values? In 1 Peter 2:13-17, we’ll see the attitude God calls us to embrace, and how gospel-shaped submission becomes a powerful witness in a watching world.
Compelling Conduct
How do followers of Jesus make a positive difference in a world that doesn’t accept or appreciate us? In 1 Peter 2:11-12, we’re given a surprisingly simple strategy that takes its cues from Jesus himself. We’ll learn how our identity shapes our conduct and witness in the world today.
God’s Building
To many looking on, the Christian church appears weak and insignificant. But in 1 Peter 2:4-10 we see God’s incredible vision for his church in the world. God is building something remarkable through ordinary believers—a living temple and a royal priesthood built on one cornerstone: Jesus Christ.
Born Again
For believers in Jesus, God doesn’t just secure our future—he sustains us in the present. In 1 Peter 1:22–2:3, we see that he has given us everything we need for the journey: new life through his word, new love in his family, and a new longing that leads to growth.
Transforming Hope
What are you really living for? And how does your future hope shape your life today? In 1 Peter 1:13–21, we’ll see how the gospel corrects our spiritual short-sightedness—calling us to activate, live out, and ground our hope in Christ’s return and the costly redemption that secures our eternal future.
Hope in Suffering
The Christian hope transforms our experience of suffering. 1 Peter 6-12 shows us that trials are not pointless or permanent—they refine our faith and deepen our love for Jesus. Come and see how hope gives joy, purpose, and strength in hardship.
Living Hope
Everyone lives with hope—a future anticipation that gives purpose. However, many of our hopes are uncertain, unattainable and don’t last. The gospel gives us the hope of a glorious future that is certain and lasts forever, because it’s based on an event that has already happened in history.
Elect Exiles
Sometimes following Jesus makes life harder, not easier—from being thought of as strange to facing real opposition. How do you keep going when faith leads to rejection? In 1 Peter 1:1-2, Peter sets the theme of the letter, reminding us that we are God’s chosen people—elect exiles—living in the world, but belonging to another.
