Life’s End – Ecclesiastes 9

Life’s End – Ecclesiastes 9

Ecclesiastes is an search for the meaning of life from the perspective of ‘under the sun’ (living as if this life is all there is). But in this passage, the Teacher compels us to face the fact that if this life is all there is, then death makes everything we do in our lives utterly meaningless—eventually everything we do will be gone and forgotten. He reminds us that ‘under the sun’ death is certain, final, and usually unwelcome. If we accept his case we will crave for life beyond the grave, which God provides for us in his Son.
